Today was the Novemberfest Metric Century ride for The Center to benefit mentally retarded adults. It was without a doubt my biggest challenge to date. The ride started out great, flat, cool, wind at our backs. That lasted 20 miles. Then, no road signs and the main group for the 63 mile ride was lost and unaware. Finally we reached highway 159 but we were not at the rest stop. It was five miles north of us. Someone had stopped at a house to see where we were so we had to head north 5 miles and determined when we stopped for rest that we'd gone about 8 miles out of the way. No problem, when you're riding 63 what's it matter if you go 70. Well, it matters, because when we left the rest stop we headed into the wind and into the rolling hills. For the next 50 miles we rode into about a 15mph head wind. It was tough! But, I made it. I wasn't sure at times just how I was going to make it up some of the hills, but thankfully, I had my road bike. I never would have been able to ride up some of the hills with my mountain bike and that kind of wind.

Now that it's over, it was tough, but I know the MS150 will be no problem. Even with the wind, I still was able to average 15mph for the 70 miles. Tomorrow is another day and Jessica and I are going to ride 20 miles in The Woodlands with the Trail-a-bike.
