Today was the West U Warm Up, but it was nowhere near warm. This warm up ride for the BPMS150 offered the same range of rides that most of the preparatory rides do but today we had to ride our chosen distance in 30 to 40 degree temperatures. Hard to believe our ride today was colder than the Olympics in Italy. I rode the metric century and after taking it easy for a couple of weeks I wanted to see how I'd feel. And, it was a great ride. I rode most of the way with a guy named Larry who was probably 15 years younger and an avid cyclist. It is considerably easier riding with someone or a group than it is riding alone. TeamOxy folks were out there but we just seemed to miss each other today. Anyway, the first half of the ride was fast, we were probably in the top 20 of the 63 milers at halfway. Then, we turned into the wind. Fortunately, the wind wasn't too strong and we managed to maintain 15 to 16mph. That lasted about ten miles and then we had a cross wind until we were about 5 miles from the finish. It's great having a tailwind to finish with. So, great ride, I felt great. Just a little soreness in my left knee because with all the warm stuff I couldn't wear my knee support. Looking forward to next weeks Sam Houston Pedalfest and Wild West End. It's a two-fer weekend with probably 40 to 60 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday.
