Back on the bike in Houston this week. Today was the Gator ride in Baytown. It was a unique ride beginning with a ride over the Houston ship channel on the Hartman bridge, then down through the Battleground Chemical Complex where Oxy's Vinyls group is located. From there we rode past the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas to the Lynchburg ferry. All the riders rode the ferry across the ship channel and completed their rides in the countryside north and east of Baytown. It was a beautiful day with 10mph wind out of the ESE later in the day. I rode 63 miles today. The wind is tough for me. I'd much rather have hills, but wind is what we have in Houston, especially when riding south of town. Tomorrow I'll probably just ride in The Woodlands. I'm signed up for the Spring Breakaway in Katy but I've ridden that route several times, and yes, it's windy. So probably 40 miles or so near home and point toward the Continental Airlines ride next week in Montgomery county. Hills and little wind!
