Last night was the 9th annual Midnight Ride in The Woodlands to assist the Montgomery County Food Bank. They moved the start/finish this year but it turned out to be a better route and they had a turnout of about 500 cyclists. This event usually has a lot of families riding the 11.5 mile ride. There were quite a few that rode the 25.4 mile route.

I rode the 25 mile ride and rode it on my mountain bike since I don't like to ride my road bike in the dark. Lights were required but I'd rather have thicker tires when I really can't see as well. I finished about 16th overall, even on the mountain bike, and averaged 18.5 miles per hour. From time to time I rode with the younger guys on road bikes and at those times rode much to fast but took time to recover and keep my speed up. Since I've had a couple of weeks off the bike I was a little sore after the ride but I'll be back on the road bike this evening once it cools off a little.
